Frosting Couture had the featured accessories spot in a high end fashion photoshoot this weekend! Here are a sneak peak at some of the shotsshots.
The breathtakingly beautiful photography is by David Mendolia, a freelance photgrapher out of Minneapolis. He has got some amazing talent.
The shoot was for Sonelle new line of silk ready to wear and dresses. Her stuff is Gorgeous!! This girl knows how to work with silk like nobodys business.
Frosting was the featured accessories at the shoot. I'm so excited! Can't wait to see the rest of the shots.

My curly hair LOVES this stuff! It can't get enough. I am on my 3rd bottle since the summer started. I definitely think it compares to the Aveda brand. It smells yummy, a little sugary/fruity but a very light scent. It is even light enought to leave a little in as a leave-in conditioner after washing. Doesnt seem to leave any build up either, which can be a problem in my fine curly hair.

The shampoo has the same nice smell, but I did not like it for regular use in my curls.

I admit it. I am a product junkie for life. But it sort of comes in handy. Since Im always giving reviews to my friends and family about hair and makeup products, I thought I would start putting them on here too. I have been doing hair and makeup for weddings and parties for about 8 years now, and I am always trying something new. I hope this new feature in the blog is helpful for you all as well!

My new favorite thing:

American Apparel - Factory Grey Nail Polish

I love this color! So hot with a tan. Its very rockerish!
Not too dark or light. It looks awesome with almost anything.
I have been re-applying it for 2 weeks straight!!
It also goes on great 2 coats, and hardly chips at all. Even without a top coat.

Check out the other colors as well. I love the muted tones.

If you havent noticed in the shop as of yet, I have caught a serious case of spring fever! Its driving me crazy. (especially since we have received like 10 inches of snow in the last two weeks - argh!) All I can think about is green grass, and pretty flowers, and BLUE skies!

The result is a brand new line of Luxe Accessories! You know I love my headbands, so I just decided to take them one step further.
You cant help but feel absolutely gorgeous in these!

MPLS St Paul Magazine!!!

Yaaaayy! I am freaking out! I was in line at the grocery store earlier looking at magazines and I realized the New MPLS/St Paul Magazine was out!! About a month ago I did an interview with one of the editors and about 2 weeks later I did a little photoshoot.
The Article is under the Lifestyle section of the magazine in an article called "People who do cool things". This is an awesome feature spot for local store owners or artists. I did the interview but had no idea what the finished article looked like. The pictures turned out beautiful thanks to the photographer Stephanie, and Amy at A.Michele Boutique for letting us use your location!! and the article itself is amazing. Everything that was written was PERFECT!! I LOVE how it turned out and i thank everyone I worked with especially the super cool assistant editor, Abby for making it so wonderful!!

The Wii FIT should be high up on gift lists this year. Its my new obsession!! We bought it about two weeks ago and I use it everyday! It has the cutest little motivators and personal trainers to keep you going. Lots of good tips and It seems to accurately measure weight and BMI.
I have been working out for years so i was a little sceptical at first as to whether I could get a good workout with the use of Wii Fit and Wii Sports. But using them both together, and R E A L L Y getting into it (not just making slight moves of the wrist on the couch LOL) I actually have been breaking a sweat! The games are really fun for playing with my husband. It doesnt even feel like exercise we are having so much fun!
Our latest game to tryout is boxing. We made our little Mii's (cartoon self) and boxed it out for a half hour the other night. I kicked his butt!! haha!
I even took photos of the win for bragging rights;)

Tinctory is a shop out of Birmingham, UK.
I have no idea how she does it, but these pieces are amazing! I love how each one is delicately stiched. Eva the designer describes the process in her own words in her shop profile:
"The smocked necklaces are inspired by the intricate needlework seen on historic textiles. They are made entirely by hand using old elaborate techniques.

The fabric is gathered into tiny pleats which are then held in place by several rows of smocking stitches.

Most of the silk I use is recycled which means each material is slightly different (thickness, weave, lustre) and each piece unique."

Curried away...

It is getting cold here in Minnesota again. Every year once November hits I realize how cold and how long the winters are here, and how short our summers are. I prefer cooler fall weather to the summers heat. But you know I would take the heat over any below zero day. I HATE WINTER!!! and its coming...

So since the weather has started to get colder the meals I make have started to get warmer. My husband and I are in L O V E with curry. I swear I make vegetarian curry about 5-6 days out of the week. I usually go more elaborate, but since I have been so busy with the shop as of late, I have come up with an awesome quick - rachel ray sort of 15 min recipe that will knock your socks off!

I give you my SECRET recipe... Shhh

FROSTING CURRY

This will feed 3-4 small servings or 2 Hungry Adults:)

1/2 bag QUORN brand Chik'n Tenders*
2 cups Trader joes frozen organic broccoli florets
3/4 cup Trader joes tomato basil marinara - yes pasta sauce...and its AWESOME!
3 tbsp Patak's Biryani Paste (brand pictured)
1 tbsp Patak's Vindaloo Paste (pictured)- this stuff is really hot you might want to add this to taste.
4 Canned whole tomatoes Cut up
1/4 cup water as needed

Add marinara, and Paste first to pan. Stir, then add rest of ingredients cover pan and simmer for 9-10 min. Stir occasionally.
Take lid off and turn heat up slightly, stir to evaporate some of the liquid. This will take a minute or two.
Cook as long as it takes to get it to the consistency you like your curry. We like ours a little sloppy so we can soak it up with Garlic Naan Bread! YUMMY!

You can serve this with rice or just naan bread. It's nice and low in calories!

*This is also great with chicken or beef if you are not vegetarian. (My husband loves it both ways he's a "Meat-atarian" LOL) You just need to adjust cooking time so that your chicken or beef is cooked through before adding to curry sauce.

I am in LOVE! Love Love LOVE with a new phone! again you say? I know, I know I just recently raved about the LG Vue... Until IPHONE came my way. This phone could seriously be the best thing thats ever happened in my life 2nd only to my husband and peppermint bon bon.
I traded the poor little VU in after one encounter with the IPhone. I have had it for a week now and It is literally glued to me. I cant put it down! So many games, Youtube, ALL of my ITunes library(which is HUGE), GPS, and loads health,fitness,fun,entertainment & educational applications. I even downloaded a copy of "Persuasion"!! need I say more??? If you have never tried this thing out for yourself you have to go to the Apple store and give the demo phone a chance...you will be HOOKED!

Caution: Can cause jealousy in Husbands, friends, and anyone else your not paying attention to while using:)

Fit for a QUEEN...

Did a little shopping around the last few days for some more silk and velvet colors to add to my LUXE Couture Line of booties. And boy did I hit the color jackpot!! I found all this gorgeousness and a few more! YAY!! These fabrics are definitely fit for a Queen or her little princess.

I Feel Even Prettier~!

Yay! Finally!!
Due to the sucess of the "I Feel Pretty" Hats making people feel so pretty:)
I decided I should create (through much trial and error), the perfect "I Feel Pretty" Headband!!
I am so excited because I can't always wear a hat, but I love the flower.
I wore one the other day and got SO many complements!
It will come in the colors shown, plus I can always do custom colors!

My new favorite store is HomeGoods. Its a spin off of the tj maxx stores I think. But with all "Home Goods" :) They have the coolest brandname glasswear and dishes, beautiful comforters, rugs, even gourmet packaged food, and accessories for your home for 30% - 70% off the retail value!! I am IN LOVE!

This little loveseat is there right now. If it matched anything in my apartment, I would buy it and figure out someway to sneak it in!
The hubby would never notice right?

This weekend My sisters and I hosted a 35th Wedding Anniversary for my Parents~! It was a formal occasion for roughly 100, and we had a dance for them because they didnt have a reception with dancing after their wedding. That's really odd for anyone who knows them at all because they dance ALL the time. Even at home. Its really cute. Their first song was "Endless Love" by Luther Vandross. It was beautiful, and I think they really enjoyed themselves. They have gone through alot through the years and even MORE in the past year - My dad having cancer, moving out of their home into an apartment, and other stresses. But through it all you can tell they are truly in love. They are wonderful parents and it was so nice to show them how much we love them.

According to a blog i was reading today, almost every Japanese girl in Japan has some kind of glittery accessory on her cell phone. The really trendy hot girls all have rhinestones and fake pearls adorning theirs. I am totally doing this!

And on the subject of cell phones, I just upgraded after almost 3 years to the LG Vu from AT&T It is AWESOME. I am obsessed with it. My hubby keeps calling it my new "boyfriend":)

But am I the only one who didnt know about this? I heard about CHA-CHA the other day on my talk radio show. I am going to be using this all the time!! you can ask for directions, restaurant reviews, if a movie is worth seeing, how many beers there are in a keg(this is what one of the radio guys asked:), etc... Next time we go out girls!!

Postcards from the Edge...

I have found one of the most creative blogs I have ever seen.

The blog's creator describes it simply:
"PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people
mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard."

The blog changes every few days I think. Right now it has all cards from 10/18. I stumbled upon it a few weeks ago. The submissions contain different messages from sweet sayings to brutal honesty. The secrets written in one or two sentences range in subjects from Love to Abuse, Politics to War. A few of them made me tear up. My heart hurt that people possibly cannot say out loud the secrets of some of the worst ones, wrote on a postcard to post to the world. It's very interesting. I definitely think it is worth checking out...

Custom CUTIES!

One of my favorite things to do is custom orders. I love taking someones idea and creatively making it come alive. Alot of what people ask for is just custom color combinations, which is really fun to see one of my creations in someone elses vision. And everyonce in a while I will have requests for totally unique things. I am so honored that people like my stuff enough to let me create something for them from scratch, that they have never seen before they purchase. Its AWESOME! And it keeps my creative fires burning, so thats good too:) So far these are my 3 favorite Custom Cuties and orders that I have had to date.

A Case of the Mondays...

Wow. I hate MONDAY. Today has been a Looong day. It was beautiful outside. But I spent much of it in traffic and in long lines. I can only stand the same songs replayed on the radio for so long so mostly I listen to talk radio in the car. My Favorite show is the Stephanie and Meredith Show on 107.1 fm(which now SADLY is just "Stephanie" show - not sure why yet) They always crack me up but today was the first day I was actually almost brought to tears by a story. I have to post it to my blog. I will never forget this story about a couple who fell in love after an experience during the holocaust, It is SO touching...

I saw "The Duchess" with a good friend last night and I am obsessed with the costumes!! I love the materials and all the intricate details that went into the clothing. I wouldn't want to dress like that everyday. I mean the corsets alone are killer! But the over the top hair and makeup and costume are so awesome, it would just be fun every once in a while...
Keira Knightly did an amazing job. I am usually so irritated by her incessant lip-pouting that I cant pay attention to what she is saying LOL. But I was really impressed. Lots of emotion and heartbreak and Ralph Finnes(although a bit creepy in this role)... need I say more?

So of course I was filled with inspiration, So I am so glad to finally be increasing my line of Luxury Booties for baby in my shop!

Silks, Suedes, Organzas, Satins. Fabrics excite me. I cannot walk into the fabric store anymore without coming out with material from swatches to yards. I go in with a list mind you... but as soon as my eye catches the new gold flinted plaid, or fuschia tulle or silver linen something happens. I go crazy. I have spent $50 when I had a plan to spend $20 more times than I care to mention. I have a box FULL of materials for when I get the urge...
I guess this is technically a good thing, since I am somewhat of a blossoming designer, thanks to the shop I started on ETSY. http://www.frostingcouture.etsy.com
Its been a whirlwind of brainstorming and frantic sewing the past year but I am loving it more than I could have ever imagined. I cant wait to get home and on the computer every day to see what people think of their little booties and hats, and other items in the shop. I am also so grateful I have had the priveledge to be on many AWESOME blogs. I never expected that people would like the things that I love making. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
